Meet Mr. Michael Anorue (@mr_anorue) from Dallas, TX, North Texas Sales Market Manager for WhistlePig Rye Whiskey.

Michael, how do you define your style?

I would define my style as Classic and Timeless. I’m not really into trends. I would rather have things in my wardrobe that will stand the test of time and are investment pieces.

What does it mean for you to be a Modern Gentleman?

I believe a Modern Gentleman is strong and true to his word. He does the right thing, even if the right thing does not seem to be the popular thing. He makes it a point to better his argument rather than raise his voice. His strength of character is apparent in his presence as he enters a room and exerts not arrogance, but confidence that is contagious to others. A modern gentleman never lacks a friend, because a true gentleman is a friend to everyone. It doesn’t hurt that I usually have some WhistlePig Rye Whiskey or Bourbon on hand for friends.

When it comes to style, where do you mostly get your inspiration from?

A lot of my inspiration for style simply comes down to the fit. I am 6’7 and very slim so finding the right fit can be challenging. Nevertheless, nothing feels better to me than a well-fitting dinner jacket. Because of my height, I have looked for inspiration from the tall Hollywood leading man, Idris Elba. He does well to avoid lapel notches, vertical stripes and overly slim lapels – given that these all often accentuate height, it’s an unnecessary detail and could look thin and lanky. I also lean on the amazing eye of my friend Kyle who owns Uncommon Man here in Dallas. He always has something new and interesting for me to add to my wardrobe.

What’s your personal style signifier?

My personal style signifier is my Jack Mason Brand watch. The right watch can elevate the moment and form a unique story of its own.

What are your favorite wardrobe essentials?

My Beige twill jacket that is 100% wool and half lined. It is a great year-round option that you can wear just as easily as a navy blazer.

My Hippo chukka boots can be worn hard in the fall and dressed up with my beige jacket and some denim or cords.

What are your main passions and how do you cultivate them?

My Passion is simple. My entire life I have been passionate about basketball. From the second I can remember; basketball was just something that I loved. I still make time to play pick up games and I also play in a men’s basketball league here in Dallas. Yes, it is the 30 years old and up league.

What does your ideal Sunday look like?

My Ideal Sunday would be spent on the golf course on a beautiful spring morning.

Describe an interesting trip you have taken and tell us and what’s the next destination on your bucket list.

Tulum Mexico was my most interesting trip. Tulum is part of the Riviera Maya, an area named after its Mayan history and natural wonders. The beaches, lagoons and surrounding “cenotes” are breathtaking. My next adventure will be to go to Nigeria and visit the village my father grew up in. His home is still there and our family takes care of it when I can’t be there.

Tell us what can never be missing in your liquor cabinet.

A bottle of Piggyback Rye and a bottle of Piggyback Bourbon because when it comes to Rye Whiskey vs Bourbon I was never able to pick a side, so I have to have them both.
