The Stories Watches Can Tell

Watches have always brought me peace. Not because of the attention they draw or the feeling of luxury they instill. Rather, for the simple reason that they, through everything the wearer goes through, remain the silent observer.

A Vintage Timepiece and the Stories It Tells

When I first held it in my hand, I was shell-shocked.  The 1972 Rolex Submariner was from my father-in-law-to-be, a gift he received nearly 40 years ago from graduating West Point that same year – and the insane thing is, he never wore it.   Not because he deemed it too precious or reserved it only for special occasions, but – get this – because it was too…heavy.

The Mowing Rolex

Mowing the yard is a chore I actually enjoy. I could probably knock it out in about forty-five minutes, but I like to take my time and stretch it to twice that. Plus, there’s the added time for a beer or two while admiring the cleaned up grounds.

A Stronger Emotional Connection

“Fuck’em if they can’t take a joke”

This is probably one of the most famous caseback engravings out there, found on the back of a Cartier Tank gifted from film director John Landis to producer George Folsey Jr.! Or how about “Drive Carefully. Me” on the back of Paul Newman’s Rolex Daytona ref. 6239. Both watch models are not unique per se – however, the engravings on the back make specific watches one of a kind and irreplaceable.
