The alignment of manners, style and substance make up who we are.

Meet Mr. Mitch Kemp (@iammitchkemp) from Warwickshire, England – Director of the automotive marketing agency and lifestyle company Hoodpin.

Mitch, what does it mean for you to be a Modern Gentleman?

It’s very humbling to be considered a Modern Gentleman. For me, a modern gentleman is far more than just being chivalrous or courteous, it is about the alignment of manners, style and substance that make up who we are and how we are perceived in the modern world.

When it comes to style, where do you mostly get your inspiration from?

I find newsletters (like this one) are a good source, especially when you follow for a while to know if it is right for you. It can be easy to subscribe to every man and his dog, but taking time to cultivate a selection of people you follow is key. I also take a lot of inspiration from old movies and history. It might be something to do with my love of anything classic but a good story or something that celebrates the past always has me reaching for my wallet.

What’s your personal style signifier?

I wouldn’t say I have a signifier as such as I change my style so often, but I am a firm believer that a good pair of shoes and a decent watch will always make an outfit. Both of these items also have a very unique quality of being a great talking point and storytelling piece, which can tell you a lot about a person.

What are your main passions and how do you cultivate them?

I am driven by my business and have been extremely fortunate to have built a successful career within Classic Cars, something that I have been interested in since I was a boy. There is so much passion and knowledge in this industry that being so intertwined within it allows me to learn and grow daily.

Tell us what can never miss in your liquor cabinet?

Over the past few years I have really got into whisky. I bounce around different brands quite a lot and at the moment have got a thing for Singleton. It’s not the most expensive bottle in the cabinet, but it tastes great and makes a good Old Fashioned when neat just won’t cut it.
