Meet Mr. Robert Weng (@r86234) from Taipei, Taiwan, working at The Anthology Taiwan tailor shop.
Robert, how do you define your style?
I would describe my style as a fusion of classic menswear with different styles such as vintage, workwear, and outdoor wear. I believe in knowing the rules and then breaking them to create something new.
What does it mean for you to be a Modern Gentleman?
For me, being a modern gentleman means always dressing appropriately for any occasion. You can wear vintage items, but you shouldn’t look like a cosplayer.
When it comes to style, where do you mostly get your inspiration from?
I find inspiration from people I follow on Instagram, fashion magazines, art, and old photographs.

What’s your personal style signifier?
I believe that my personal style signifier is me. The person wearing the clothes is more important than the clothes themselves.
What are your favorite wardrobe essentials?
If I had to choose just one, I would say a good quality pair of jeans. I think most people would agree with that.
What are your main passions and how do you cultivate them?
One of my main passions is sketching, which I attribute to my love of comics. I make sure to set aside time to practice and improve my skills.
What does your ideal Sunday look like?
My ideal Sunday involves waking up naturally and enjoying a cup of coffee. I would then grab my camera and take a leisurely walk around the city, followed by enjoying a cigar to end the day.

Describe an interesting trip you have taken and tell us what’s the next destination on your bucket list.
Due to COVID, I haven’t traveled much lately. However, I did go to Japan for a trunk show last December and visited Kōenji, which has the best vintage shop in the world. I hope to travel more in 2023.
Tell us what can never be missing in your liquor cabinet.
I have to admit, I love beer with some fizz!
What are your three favorite books?
My favorite books are ‘True Style’, ‘Take Ivy’, and another book that I can’t remember the title of because it’s been a while since I’ve read it. I should mention that ‘Take Ivy’ is actually not like a normal book; it’s more of a photo album.
What are your three favorite movies?
My top three favorite movies are Kingsman, The Godfather, and The Great Gatsby.
