Elegance, humility and respect for everything that surrounds us

Meet Mr. Giuseppe De Corato (@giuseppedecor) from Milan, Italy – MtM & Bespoke Manager for Lanificio Fratelli Cerruti 1881.

Giuseppe, what does it mean for you to be a Modern Gentleman?

Being a Gentleman for me has no relation with time. It’s a universal and timeless lifestyle, not related to modernity or to the past. It’s an attitude, made up of good manners that reflect a way of being real, not just a mask. Being inspired by values such as elegance, humility and respect for everything that surrounds us, in two words: ethics and aesthetics.

When it comes to style, where do you mostly get your inspiration from?

I take most of my inspiration from movies and style icons, especially from the past, and one of them is the President of the company I proudly work for, Mr. Nino Cerruti – a true style icon that I have the great pleasure to meet sometimes.

What’s your personal style signifier?

Be confident and have nonchalance with everything you wear in that moment, for example wearing a suit but feeling comfortable as you are wearing gym clothes, living that suit like a second skin.

What are your main passions and how do you cultivate them?

I have a strong passion for menswear fabrics and for menswear tailoring, which is also strictly related to my job and what I do. I can say that my job allows me to cultivate two things I really love and I’m passionate about. I travel a lot, exploring new places and ways of living, first, and second I meet everyday Bespoke Tailors from all over the world, to promote and sell what I call “a piece of Made in Italy”, represented by the wonderful and exclusive fabrics we proudly weave, in our Mill “Lanificio F.lli Cerruti 1881” in Biella. Other things I’m passionate about are vintage watches, jazz music, cigars and cinema.

Tell us what can never miss in your liquor cabinet?

The ingredients to make a good “Americano” first, that is my favorite drink, it means Campari, Vermouth and soda, and second – for sure – a bottle of Oban that is my favorite whiskey.
